Feels like it took forever to complete this room. Glad it is done before the next round of holiday guests.

As always, thanks to my brother for his help, my wife for choosing the color scheme and my father for showing me that DIY projects do work out.

Well, it has been a long time since my last blog post. Too much business travel this summer and opening my own Technology Consulting firm took most of my time. Please check out http://www.atteberrygroup.com and https://www.facebook.com/atteberrygroup.

Now onto this week’s side project – Lighting the backyard. As you can see, there were several mismatched, nasty fixtures just begging to be replaced.

And – the results…

Not bad eh? My thanks to Lynn for lending a helping hand and my father for teaching me how to do my own repairs.

Guest Bathroom Refresh - Jan - Mar 2014

Well, I should have started with a plan...

Instead, I decided that the grout needed to be replaced since it had not been sealed properly and I was tired of using bleach and a toothbrush.

 

This meant removing the toilet and cutting out the grout - Ryobi Job Tool

Now I realize that the trim and the door look really bad, so I paint the door and the trim. Then I realize the walls look like crap and I hate the medicine cabinet, so remove the medicine cabinet and I can paint the walls. Well, the previous owner though the best way to hang a medicine cabinet with Liquid Nails and screws into the drywall (thus the Liquid Nails). Result -

So now I have to repair that. Meanwhile, I realize I am going to have to paint the ceiling as well, so I should check out the ceiling vent. Yeah - that needs to be replaced as well.

 

Oh and since the toilet is out, I should replace it with a better one. The final list:

• Replace ceiling vent
• Replace toilet
• Paint walls
• Paint ceiling
• Paint trim
• Paint door

All because I wanted to replace the grout.

 

Not Travel - But the Reason I am Behind in Posting my Travel Pictures

For the last two months, in addition to a heavy travel schedule for both work and fun, Lynn and I have been laying a new floor in our home office. I am pleased to say the that we are now done.

My thanks to my Brother, Father, Father-in-Law and of course Lynn.
